10 Commandments of Goal Setting

Posted on: December 30th, 2011 by Glenda Feilen
You CAN get your goal

You CAN get your goal

A new year – a new goal! You’ve heard this before: when you fail to plan, you plan to fail. That is tough talk, but it’s not just talk.

There are two ways to approach accomplishing your goal: planning your work and working your plan, or just being spontaneous. Planning is about results, and not just about creating the plan. The spontaneous approach may seem like more fun, but it is like not having a plan at all. When we spontaneously run our lives by the seat of our pants, we do whatever action seems right based on current circumstances and feelings at the moment. The spontaneous approach may lead to accomplishing goals, but it is more likely that you will not accomplish the goals you could have had if followed a plan. People who reach their goal are those who have bothered to set one.

There are ten pieces of the Goal-setting puzzle:
1. Choose the Right Goal
The key to accomplishing meaningful long-term success in life is choosing the right goal to focus on. Steven Covey developed a method of categorizing goals into Urgent vs. Not urgent & Important vs. Not important.
2. Be Specific
When a goal is specific, anyone can look at the goal and understand it without asking a multitude of questions. State your goal in the present. Make it clear & precise and have an end date.
3. Must be Measurable
You will know when you ‘have arrived’ when it is measurable. You will be able to measure progress along the way & can even break up the goal into smaller more manageable increments.
4. Must be Attainable
If you do not currently have the skills to accomplish the goal & there is no clear plan for gaining that knowledge, you set yourself up for failure & discouragement. Set goals that challenge yourself, but are within reach.
5. Write your goal down
A goal set that is not written down is simply a pipe dream. You sabotage yourself when you do not take your goal seriously enough to write it down.
6. Visualize Achieving your Goal
Your subconscious mind is a very powerful tool. When you draw your strength from your subconscious mind, you accomplish your goal faster. Take the time to sit in a quiet place and visualize yourself having already accomplished your goal.
7. Establish Rewards
In order to stay motivated and focused, mini rewards for intermediate milestones are important. Break up your goal into 3 or 4 smaller measurable and attainable mile-stones that you can assign a mini reward.
8. Develop an Action Plan
A good action plan details all activities needed to accomplish your goal. This action plan becomes sort of a ‘to-do’ list. Completing each activity in the action plan in order will propel you closer to reaching your end goal.
9. Take Action
A detailed plan must have action. You must take action to reach your goal. Be flexible and willing to change the action, time-frame, or method to accomplish the action, if the original plan does not work as expected.
10. Record Progress
Once you have created your action plan and started taking action, you will stay motivated by recording progress toward activity completion and celebrating mini rewards.

You will find that these 10 Commandments of Successful Goal Setting are a structured approach to plan your work and then work your plan. By implementing this process repeatedly, you will become unstoppable.

Stop Trying to be Someone You’re Not

Stop trying to be someone else

Stop trying to be someone else

Stop trying to be someone you aren’t. Why is it that so many people work hard at being like everyone else? If that’s you – stop trying! Be yourself. When you do. The right people will find you and love you.

Someone will always be prettier than you. Someone will always be smarter than you. Someone will always be younger than you, so stop trying to be them. The fact is, no one will ever be you! It’s time you stop trying and realize how special you are because you are different.

Think about it – it’s silly to try to change so people will like you. Stop trying to change and free yourself. Just be YOU. One of the biggest challenges you will have in life is to be yourself in a world that constantly tries to make everyone like everyone else.

When you love someone else so much that you lose yourself, you must stop trying to be someone else.

Raymond Hull said it best: “He who trims himself to suit everyone will soon whittle himself away.”

Related: Make My Day

The majority of people’s thoughts are other people’s opinions. They mimic everything about those around them. Stop trying to be anyone but the unique you. Show the special divine nature that is you.

Judy Garland warned against this when she said. “Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else.” When you stop trying to be like someone else you will love your imperfections because they make you – you.

When you stop trying to be  someone else, you will love yourself more and increase your capacity to love others for who they are.

Are You Hanging on to the Past with One Hand?

Posted on: December 26th, 2011 by Glenda Feilen
Let go of the past with both hands

Let go of the past with both hands

Let go of the past with both hands. Are you hanging on to the past with one hand? If so, you are letting the past steal your present.

Only when you let go of the past completely, can you get hold of the present completely. The interesting thing is that when you let go of the past, it no longer has a hold on you.

The energy it takes to hold on the past is actually keeping you from your future. It’s takes work to keep reiterating the same old negative stuff. Letting go with both hands means that you don’t secretly ponder or wallow in memories of the past.

When you allow yourself to replay the past over and over again in your head, you are allowing feelings of shame, guilt, anger and regret to flood into your emotions. These feelings shape your present and future actions. When you cling to these emotions about the past, it gives the past power over your future.

Some people just can’t let go of the past completely. They get addicted to telling ‘their story’. You are NOT your story. If they let go of the past with both hands you can create a new story. A new more powerful story.

When you release the past, you release mental as well as physical stress. You allow new thoughts and opportunities to come in. You need both hands on the present and the future. Drop the past, once you’ve learn enough to never do it again! Just let it go. Leave the past in the past. Let go with both hands and get both hands on your new, successful future.

Do You Keep Christ in Christmas?

Posted on: December 23rd, 2011 by Glenda Feilen
A perfect Christmas

A perfect Christmas

Do you really keep Christ in Christmas?

You have a picture in your mind of the perfect Christmas gifts, the perfect Christmas decorations, the perfect family Christmas get-togethers….in short, the picture-perfect Christmas.

The fact is that the perfect Christmas you want and hope for just doesn’t always happen. Real life occurs instead. The perfect gifts you want are sold out, the decorations broke getting them down from the attic and the family quarrels at the Christmas get-together.

Keep the magic of the most special holiday of the year in your heart and your home by keeping Christ in Christmas. When the perfectness of your Christmas is scarce, you can choose to be disappointed and upset, or you can open your heart and mind to the real Spirit of Christmas.

When you keep Christ in Christmas you realize that the minor things you thought were so important aren’t really the important things. You realize that Christmas is about love. It is about being willing to serve others.

Keeping Christ in Christmas means not letting the little things about the season get you down. It means realizing you aren’t perfect but that you are trying to become a better person every day.

Christ will lift your spirits. Christ will comfort you. He will take you by the hand and help you turn an ordinary life into an extraordinary experience-even when it’s not Christmas. Keep your heart open to Christ and the imperfections of your Christmas will not bother you.

The true spirit of Christmas is the spirit of love, generosity, and caring. You can have the merriest Christmas ever when you give to others the gifts God has given to you.

Let’s face it – Christmas is what you make it. Make it about Christ. Make Him the real reason for your season.

Make everyday a day to open your heart to Christ with the WOW SYSTEM. Stay connected to your Source every day.

How to Be Positive at Christmas

Posted on: December 21st, 2011 by Glenda Feilen
Be positive at Christmas

Be positive at Christmas

To be positive at Christmas is pretty easy. Even though Christmas can be a time of hustle and bustle, it won’t be a problem if you know how to be positive. Christmas, like everything else, is not a time or a season-but a state of mind.

To be positive is to realize that things get a little messy and out of control at Christmas. Be flexible. Be spontaneous. I like what the late Andy Rooney said, “One of the most glorious messes in the world is the mess created in the living room on Christmas day. Don’t clean it up too quickly.”

To be positive is look at at things which don’t go exactly as you had wished a different way than you usually do. Watch your words! Instead of declaring something disgusting, awful, disappointing, or another pet word you might have, simply look at it as being ‘entertaining.’ Say to yourself, “Wow, that is really is really entertaining.” You will find it’s easy to be positive when you have that point of view about any difficult situation.

To be positive is to remember that it is personal thoughtfulness, and reaching out to others that brings you the Christmas spirit. Mrs. Paul Ell knew how to be positive when she said, “They err who thinks Santa Claus comes down through the chimney; he really enters through the heart.”

Everyone can be positive by being grateful for each day, by remembering that Christmas is a season of love. Be positive by sending a secret little love gift to each person with whom you come in contact. Be positive by thinking something nice about every person.  Be positive stopping what you are doing to give someone a little help.

Oh, and one last thing you must do to be positive at Christmas: do not rush! Rushing ruins the Spirit of Christmas. If you feel rushed, take a couple of big breaths and start the love fest once again. Just be positive by opening your heart and you will be opening yourself of abundance in every area of your life.

You’ll find it easy to be positive when you follow the simple, easy steps in the WOW SYSTEM.

How the Little Girl Got Her Wish

Posted on: December 15th, 2011 by Glenda Feilen
You can get your wish like she did.

You can get your wish like she did.

A cute little girl got her biggest wish without even knowing how she did it.

Lillie loved horses and her wish was to ride them as often as possible. A couple of times a week she fulfilled her wish by going to a stable to ride her favorite horse which was owned by a friend. Every week as she went to the stable, she would notice the sign out front. The sign stated the name of the horse and below that, it stated the name of the owner.

Every single time she came to the stable, she would notice the sign out front and make a wish. She would wish that on the sign after the word ‘owner’, it was her name that was written. In her mind, she could literally see her wish by imagining what the sign would look like with her name on it. She would imagine how it would feel if her wish to actually own her favorite horse were to come true. She made this wish over and over again. Seeing, imagining, believing that some day her wish could come true.

One day, as she came to the stable to ride, she looked at the sign and could hardly believe her eyes. Instead of making her usual wish, she simply stood and stared at he sign. Her wish had come true. That was a day she would never forget. On the sign, after the name of her horse, miraculously, it was her name that was after the word ‘owner’.

Some people might say that’s coincidence. Some might say it’s a miracle. Actually, it’s a law. Napoleon Hill stated it this way: Conceive, believe, achieve.  She did exactly that. She told her subconscious mind that it was her horse by making her mental and emotional wish every time she went to the stable and made her mental and emotional wish. Her subconscious mind did not know the difference between imagined with feeling and real. When you give it orders, it follows them. Lillie did not know the law. She didn’t have to understand why her wish came true and the good news is, neither do you.

You can learn to ‘wish’ so that every dream come true. Watch my free videos about the WOW SYSTEM!

Forgiveness Doesn’t Mean It was Okay

Forgiveness is getting out of prison

Forgiveness is getting out of prison

Forgiveness doesn’t mean what happened was okay. No way! Forgiveness doesn’t mean you accept the past unacceptable behavior as being a good thing. It doesn’t mean we are all good buddies as if it hadn’t happened. Forgiveness doesn’t mean that you deny the other person’s responsibility for hurting you, and it doesn’t minimize or justify the wrong. You can forgive the person without excusing the act.

Forgiveness means you refuse to be locked in a personal prison where the bars are made of rage, anger, and resentment.

Forgiveness means you are taking a huge step  to have peace within yourself. This occurs only when you forgive yourself for letting it happen. Forgiveness occurs when you care to have a better future than past.

Forgiveness lessens the grip that the event or person had on your life. Forgiveness can even lead to feelings of understanding, empathy and compassion for the one who hurt you. I like what Confucius said: To be wronged is nothing unless you continue to remember it..

Forgiveness does not change the past, but it does enlarge your future! The truth is that forgiveness is the sweetest revenge.

Are You One of the Living Dead?

Posted on: December 12th, 2011 by Glenda Feilen

Are you one of the living dead? Look around – they are everywhere.

Dead is no way to be

Dead is no way to be

These are people who are living, walking around, and going through the daily motions of life, but in reality, they died several years ago. Something happened in their life and they died inside. They have no passion for living. They live with disappointment, sadness, and pity. They act as though they are dead.

Are you living life by just going through the motions? Do you get up and do the same thing day after day? Do you follow the same routine? Are you trapped? Are you the same as dead?

As long as you have breath, you have something to offer. If your life is boring, if you feel dead inside, find something to get excited about. You can find something to bring you back to life inside.

It’s time to drop the dead routine. It’s time to wake up. The first thing you need to do is to stop comparing yourself to anyone else. The life you have is no accident. You aren’t dead by chance. You’ve made the decision that playing dead is easier than living. You are the only person who can be you. You must run your own race, but giving up half way through is no way to be a winner.

Pick one thing that you do during the day that brings you a bit of joy. Every time you do this one thing, act as if it were the first time you were doing it and do it with every bit of passion you have. The next time you do it, do it as though you were not dead, do it again as if you were doing it for the first time with every bit of passion you have.

Next, take a risk. Do something you wouldn’t normally do in your dead life. Go somewhere you wouldn’t normally go in your dead life. Order something different from the menu. Walk or drive a different way. This will change your mind set. It will change the way you see things around you. It will help to wake you from the dead.

Replace one bad habit. Any one-just do it to prove your waking up from the dead.

Look out – if you are doing those 3 things, you’ve got one foot out of the grave and you’re on your way to the land of passionate living. Live a WOW life with the WOW SYSTEM.

Choose not to be dead anymore.
